“Always focus on the bigger picture – it helps a lot”
My Name is Nokwanda Ntuli and I am 21 years of age. I currently live in Ravenswood, Boksburg, in the East Rand. I completed my Matric in 2018. Before I became part of the Afrika Tikkun team I was a part-time waitress, a job I had to stop in July after the President declared a lockdown.
As I was sitting at home looking for another job, I came across an Afrika Tikkun vacancy. I didn’t waste any time and applied instantly. It wasn’t long after that, I was called to write the formal assessment. After passing the assessment and two interviews, I was told to report to the Talent Hub, which was the best week I have ever had. After a few weeks I got a placement at the Aerospace Training Academy of South Africa in Boksburg. I was very pleased with where I was placed because it means that I would not be travelling for hours to get to work. My job is mostly marketing and admin work and on very busy days I also help out as an assistant to my supervisors. Being part of this programme has been a huge experience that has taught me a lot, especially about the work space.
Afrika Tikkun has given me an opportunity to learn the necessary skills I didn’t think I would ever get the opportunity to learn. To any young individual I say – be patient, this road is a journey. Stay focused on your goals. It will help you get over any hurdle.
