I am a 22-year-old girl born in Sebokeng and raised in Orange Farm. I live with my Grandmother and my two young siblings. I like to think of myself as a person who doesn’t follow while others lead, I love to lead. I also like to think that I’m self-driven and strong-minded, a free spirit that questions everything about everything before accepting anything. I have the hunger to aspire and accomplish something. I love to test my capabilities. I love challenges and going out of my way to push to the next level. I love to see people happy, you know that look on someone’s face when they are smiling and their eyes are bright and their body language is open to excitement. That makes me happy putting a smile on people’s faces. My first journey with Afrika Tikkun started when I was at the age of 4 when I joined the Early Childhood Development (ECD) programme in 2005.
I later then joined the Afrika Tikkun Services (ATS) Alumni Network in 2022. I joined ATS Alumni Network because I want to see myself grow and help others grow within Afrika Tikkun as a whole. Afrika Tikkun Services has taught me how to be a team player. I feel empowered to connect to the economy of South Africa.
In 2023, I attended the ATS Alumni Day event and I remember that day like the back of my hand. I got to express myself, overcame the fear of public speaking, and conquered the stage.
I also attended the first Young Urban Men (YUM) and Young Urban Women (YUW) session of 2023. On that day, I learned that not only does my opinion matter, but I must also listen to other people’s points of view.
