Alumni Network April – Lockdown Update

Dear Alumni Member,

At Afrika Tikkun Services we know it feels as though the lockdown will last forever. But it won’t! And when it’s over, you’ll need to be a good position to start up the job pursuit again.

Why not complete a mobile course on planning for your future? funzi.mobi/learm/get-that-job will even give you a certificate once you’ve completed. Please note that the course is free but it will require use of some data (only 16-18Mbs per course).

This will set you up nicely to be able to utilise some of the career development opportunities at Afrika Tikkun Services, an organisation committed to skills development and placement of young people. Follow us on social media or visit our website:

But you can and will get through this difficult time. These wellness tips can help keep your spirits up:

  • Try not to worry about things that are out of your control
  • Limit media influence
  • Get some fresh air even as you comply with the lockdown measures
  • Stay connected and reach out virtually or by phone if you need support
  • Stay present and don’t stress about the future
  • Practice self-care

Here at Afrika Tikkun Services, we understand there’s quite a bit of anxiety and uncertainty in the air relating to COVID-19. To ease this, we’d like to share some important facts with you.

Q: Our health minister warned that 60% of us will get the Coronavirus, is that true?

A: Yes, this is a worldwide prediction over the next 12 to 18 months. The spread of Coronavirus is within our control though. The most important thing we can do is keep a safe distance from others, avoid gatherings of people and continue to follow the prescribed safety and hygiene tips. Each week, we’ll send you communication clarifying information about the virus which, we hope, will help you better deal with what’s happening.
